AMD 64 and Intel EM64T processors are supported running Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, all releases of Vista and all releases of Windows 7. CoCreate Design Data Management is not supported on any release of Vista or Windows 7. All data management components except the 64 bit database server run as 32 bit applications on Windows computers, including 64 bit processors like AMD 64 and Intel EM64T.

This release supports servers on 32 bit Vista and 32 bit Windows 7, although Microsoft and CoCreate recommend server operating systems for performance and scalability.

For comparison with CoCreate Manager Server 16.x, those items which are new in Manager Server 17.0 and beyond are flagged in blue bold text , while those that were in 16.x but will not be included in 17.0 and beyond are flagged in red strike-through text . Those items which remain unchanged from 16.x to 17.0 and beyond are in black.

None of our components are tested or certified on virtual machines, such as those provided by products like VirtualPC or VMware. For reference, we have included a copy of the Support Position for Oracle Products Running on VMWare Virtualized Environments .

None of our components are tested or certified on Itanium processors for either HP-UX or Windows.

None of our components support software on an operating system or database that is not supported by the supplier. CoCreate recommends that customers review the life cycle of their operating system and database. If the operating system or database is planned for obsolescence, then customers should plan to migrate to a supported operating system and database.

  • Refer to the Microsoft consumer operating system life cycle web site for obsolescence information.
  • Refer to the Hewlett-Packard Software Release document for the planned obsolescence dates of HP-UX releases. Hewlett-Packard also offers obsolescense information for PA-RISC hardware.
  • Refer to the Oracle Lifetime Support Policy for Technology Products to review the planned obsolescence dates of Oracle releases.

Operating System Service Packs, Patches, and Hot Fixes

  1. CoCreate releases software tested on the latest patch level available at time of the release.
  2. In general, CoCreate system requirement specifications define a minimum service pack or patch level and expect its software products to not be affected by more recent operating system patches issued by Microsoft. Correct functioning on new patches issued by Microsoft cannot be guaranteed though. CoCreate's response to potential incompatibilities of this nature is to attempt the removal of those incompatibilities as timely as possible in one of the next patch, service pack or major releases of our products.

Schema and Release Support

17.0 based clients (CoCreate Model Manager, CoCreate Drawing Manager, and Design Data Management) can connect to a database server and schema from Manager Server 16.0 or later. They are not supported with any earlier schema or database server.

The schema support diagram looks like this:

Current client releases are supported with the current server release and with all server and schema releases as old as the previous major release. Previous client releases are not supported with the current server release.

Job Spooler / Job Server Compatibility

Job Spooler Release Job Server Release
17.0 17.0

If the Job Spooler detects older Job Servers, it marks them as "Incompatible" in the CoCreate Model Manager (or CoCreate Drawing Manager) Admin panel. Job Spooler requires Job Server.

The Job Server requires at least CoCreate Modeling 17.0 or CoCreate Drafting 17.0.

CoCreate Design Data Management

This support matrix covers CoCreate Design Data Management with CoCreate Drafting 17.0 and beyond and CoCreate Modeling 17.0 and beyond.

CoCreate Design Data Management 17.0 and beyond supports the same configurations as CoCreate Manager Server 17.0 and beyond except that integrations to CoCreate Modeling and CoCreate Drafting are only available for the Windows client platforms supported by CoCreate Modeling and CoCreate Drafting.

3 = Oracle 10g x64 and 11g x64 on Windows require the latest Oracle Critical Patch Update. The patches contain preapply and postapply instructions which must be followed. Please see Oracle 10g Patch note, Oracle 11g R1 Patch note and Oracle 11g R2 Patch note for more information. HP-UX Oracle 11g does not require the latest Oracle Critical Patch update, but it is recommended.
4 = Oracle 10g and 11g 32 bit on Windows require the latest Oracle Critical Patch Update. The patches contain preapply and postapply instructions which must be followed. Please see Oracle 10g Patch note, Oracle 11g R1 Patch note and Oracle 11g R2 Patch note for more information.
5 = Manager Server Oracle 10g installations used Oracle character set "UTF8" for UTF-8 installations. Manager Server Oracle 11g installations use Oracle character set "AL32UTF8" for UTF-8 installations.

Microsoft does not recommend that customers deploy business critical servers (like data management) on their desktop operating systems (for example Windows Vista, Windows XP Professional, etc.). Customers should deploy business critical servers on the Microsoft server operating systems (e.g. Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition, Windows Server 2003 R2 x64 Edition, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 x64 Edition and Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Edition). CoCreate has found severe scalability limits when using desktop operating systems for servers.

1 Includes 2 licenses. Both licenses are pulled when you start CoCreate Model Manager: One is specifically for CoCreate Model Manager, and one is reserved for running CoCreate Drawing Manager concurrently on the same computer. When running concurrently, CoCreate Drawing Manager will not pull an additional license.

CoCreate Model Manager (within CoCreate Modeling or 3D Access) and CoCreate Model Manager Standalone or two copies of CoCreate Model Manager Standalone or CoCreate Model Manager (within CoCreate Modeling or 3D Access) and CoCreate Drawing Manager may run on the same computer at the same time.

The number of Web Services licenses available is derived from the number of CoCreate Model Manager, CoCreate Drawing Manager, and Project Data Manager licenses configured in the CoCreate License Server.

Items that do not need licenses

License Bundles

CoCreate CoCreate Model Manager licenses also enable CoCreate Drawing Manager when CoCreate Drawing Manager is run on the same computer as CoCreate Model Manager. This license bundle is enabled by setting an environment variable before the user starts CoCreate Drafting, or by setting the same variable in the me10.ini file. That variable is:

MEBUNDLEKEY=1

CoCreate Drawing Manager will not use a license bundle when CoCreate Drafting is started with -bundlekey as a command line argument. It will only use a license bundle if MEBUNDLEKEY=1 is set in the environment or in the me10.ini file.

CoCreate License Server Information

Release Requirements:

A release compatibility check is performed between the application and the license server. You will receive an error message if the license server release number is less than the application release number, and the license(s) will not be granted. Therefore the software application cannot be used.

In summary the following condition must be fulfilled for every application:

Major Release(License Server) [EQUAL or GREATER] Major Release(Application)

When you upgrade Manager Server to 17.0 or beyond, you must upgrade to the CoCreate License Server 17.0 or later.

Blocked Licenses:

The License Server will reject blocked licenses.
Blocked licenses are licenses which are marked as "blocked" in the CoCreate license database.
Usually licenses were blocked if they were split or moved to other License Servers during a license exchange process.
No operations can be performed on blocked licenses.
During the license exchange process the customer confirmed to remove them from his license configuration and never use them in the future.
Therefore it is never valid to use any blocked license.

Example:

If such invalid licenses are found in an active license configuration the License Server will select and disable them.
Attention: The license administrator has to remove such licenses from the active license configuration to have a valid license configuration.

All blocked licenses are disabled by the License Server and cannot be used anymore.

Support Position for Oracle Products Running on VMWare Virtualized Environments (copied from Oracle Document ID 249212.1 from 07-JUN-2010)

Purpose

Explain to customers how Oracle supports our products when running on VMware.

Scope & Application

For Customers running Oracle products on VMware virtualized environments. No limitation on use or distribution.

Support Status for VMware Virtualized Environments

Oracle has not certified any of its products on VMware virtualized environments. Oracle Support will assist customers running Oracle products on VMware in the following manner: Oracle will only provide support for issues that either are known to occur on the native OS, or can be demonstrated not to be as a result of running on VMware.

If a problem is a known Oracle issue, Oracle support will recommend the appropriate solution on the native OS. If that solution does not work in the VMware virtualized environment, the customer will be referred to VMware for support. When the customer can demonstrate that the Oracle solution does not work when running on the native OS, Oracle will resume support, including logging a bug with Oracle Development for investigation if required.

If the problem is determined not to be a known Oracle issue, we will refer the customer to VMware for support. When the customer can demonstrate that the issue occurs when running on the native OS, Oracle will resume support, including logging a bug with Oracle Development for investigation if required.

NOTE: Oracle has not certified any of its products on VMWare, and use of Oracle products in the RAC environment is also not supported.
